In the Division 3 State Championship game the Rustburg Red Devils defeated the Knights of Turner Ashby 9-6. Rustburg scored first on a 44 yard field goal by Andrew Thompson, which was set up by a gutsy 4th and inches call by Rustburg coach Mike Schavnus on the previous set of downs.

Turner Asby continued to pound Rustburg on the ground with exceptional running by FB Jason Airey and RB Chris Trapp. Setting up a 30 yard touchdown strike from QB Travis Reznik to WR Larry Hensley. (PAT Failed).

In the second quarter Rustburg fought back with a 68 yard touchdown run by Tony Jefferson putting the Red Devils up 9-6.

Turner Ashby was unable to capitalizeon a blocked punt by defensive end Adam Wright. Rustburg's Aavon Lassiter then picked off a Reznik pass to regain the ball for Rustburg who ran out the clock on the first half.

Both teams made every effort to score in the second half but there was no damage. Turner Ashby was given one last chance with under 10 seconds left from their own 40 yard line. As the Hail Mary attempt was intercepted by TJ McCray Rustburg was crowned Division 3 Champions.
