Jamaal Mills broke a couple tackles and dove over the goal line from 5 yards out on third and goal with just 34 seconds left on the clock to give West Potomac the dramatic 14-7 win.

Mills (144 yards rushing) took the first play from scrimmage 60 yards down to the Langley 21. On the next play Phillip Pollard ran an inside trap play and took it the distance putting the Wolverines up 7-0 less then a minute into the game.

The Langley Defense came up with stop after stop the rest of the game holding the fast break Wolverines in check for almost 4 full quarters after that. On offense Langley turned the ball over 6 times leaving the defense with it's backs to the wall all night long. They responded with 5 4th down stops in their own territory against the Wolverines. The Saxons took the opening kick-off of the second half and drove 83 yards in 9 minutes to tie the game at 7. QB Matt Kilpatrick took an option play of the left side for the last 16 yards and the touchdown.

With 6 minutes left the Saxons fumbled the ball on their own 21 yard line. After a West Potomac first down the Saxon defense toughened up stopping the Wolverines 3 plays in a row inside the 10, forcing a Jon Dyer field goal. Strong Safety and RB Michael Wilson broke through the middle and blocked the West Potomac field goal keeping the score at 7-7 with three and a half minutes left.

After a couple near misses on pass plays the Saxons were forced to punt back to the Wolverines. West Potomac took over on the 50 yard line with 2:48 left. The combination of Mills and QB Darren Baker (114 yards rushing) ran the ball on the worn down Langley defense down to the 8 yard line. The Saxons came up with 2 big stops and on 3rd down from the 5 yard line Mills heroics gave the Wolverines the Northern Region Division 5 Championship.

The Wolverines will go to the Richmond area to play Dinwiddie in the Division 5 State Semi-Finals next week.
